Amazon Prime Day Set For October 13 and 14

Amazon Prime Day Set For October 13 and 14

After a delay this year due to the pandemic and a surge of online orders, Amazon Prime Day, the company’s biggest sales event of the year, is now scheduled to take place in two weeks on Oct. 13 and 14, according to CNN. The annual event, which started five years ago, features two days of big savings on thousands of products across all categories.

“We’ve proceeded adaptively and we’ve come to the decision that Oct. 13 and 14 is the right time for us to have Prime Day,” Jamil Ghani, vice president of Prime, said, according to CNBC. “We feel like the preparation we’ve done all year and for 20 years before that ensures that we will have a successful and, very importantly, a safe Prime Day.”

Scheduling Prime Day for October when it is usually held in July means holiday shopping this year is kicking off that much earlier. Amazon’s rival Target is also now planning to have a big sales event of its own on Oct. 13 and 14 called “Target Deal Days.”

Although Amazon Prime targets Prime members, customers don’t have to be members to take advantage of all of the deals, according to CNET. Even for those who do not have a subscription, they may still be able to buy many items on sale. However, they will not be able to get the free, fast shipping Prime members receive. Some items will also be Prime-exclusive, including Amazon-branded products like Kindles and Echos.
