Biden and Trump Continue to Battle It Out in Presidential Election

The presidential election has been a nail biter for both sides, and it is not over yet as neither candidate has yet reached the necessary 270 Electoral College votes needed to win, according to Vox. Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden won Minnesota, Colorado and New Hampshire, while President Trump won the battleground states of Ohio, Florida and Texas, according to NBC News.

Both contenders were optimistic on Tuesday night in the midst of the polarizing race.

“We feel good about where we are,” Biden said, speaking from his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. “We believe we’re on track to win this election.”

Trump spoke later in the evening and falsely claimed he won the election. He also added he wanted the votes to stop being counted and mentioned going to the Supreme Court, according to CNN. However, officials say it is premature for Trump to claim victory since so many outstanding votes still need to be tallied. Biden encouraged everyone to have patience.

Key states, including Michigan and Pennsylvania, which has 20 electoral votes, are still up for grabs. Both in-person and mail-in ballots also have yet to be counted in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Biden won Illinois and Arizona. In addition to Pennsylvania, who wins the presidential race may possibly depend on Michigan and Wisconsin.

In the Senate race, so far Democrats have 46 seats. Republicans have 47 seats, according to CNN. Millions of mail-in ballots are still being counted in many battleground states.
