Pre-Inauguration Virtual Concert to Feature Fall Out Boy, will.i.am, and James Taylor

Pre-Inauguration Virtual Concert to Feature Fall Out Boy, will.i.am, and James Taylor

In advance of next week’s presidential inauguration, a pre-inauguration “We the People” concert is being planned for this Sunday, according to Rolling Stone. Fall Out Boy, Will.i.am, Carole King, James Taylor, AJR, and Michael Bivins are among the stars scheduled to perform.

The evening will also raise money for the Biden Inaugural Committee. Tickets will range from $25 to $50, which will include a personalized commemorative inauguration ticket and an event poster, up to the option of contributing any amount, according to NME. The event will kick off a host of star-studded events in celebration of the new administration.

“We have witnessed countless heroes this past year step up to the frontlines and serve their fellow Americans, so we are telling their stories, spreading their collective light, and celebrating the best of our country and its people with this primetime program,” Tony Allen, Delaware State University president and Presidential Inaugural Committee CEO, said.

The pre-inaugural event will be a full circle moment for Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. His parents met working for President-elect Joe Biden in the 1970s, according to Insider. Wentz shared a photo last November of Biden holding him as a baby while standing next to Wentz’s mother, Dale Lewis Wentz, during his first term as a senator.

Biden also attended his parents’ wedding. Wentz was an ardent supporter of the Obama-Biden campaign and credits Biden for his life and, therefore, success.

“If it weren’t for Joe Biden, I would not exist as a human being,” Wentz told an Associated Press reporter after the 2008 presidential election.
