ViacomCBS’s New Paramount Plus Streaming Service Will Debut on March 4

ViacomCBS’s New Paramount Plus Streaming Service Will Debut on March 4

ViacomCBS is rebranding its streaming service with Paramount Plus and has a planned launch on March 4 nationwide and in Latin America, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The initial launch will be followed by availability in other markets, including countries in the Nordic region on March 25 and in Australia by the middle of the year, according to Variety. In Canada, CBS All Access will rebrand as Paramount Plus on March 4.

However, viewers will not be able to access its expanded content until later in the year. ViacomCBS officials plan to provide more details about the company’s streaming initiative during a meeting for investors which is scheduled to be held on February 24.

“The presentation will deliver a comprehensive overview of the company’s streaming strategy, including Paramount Plus, Pluto TV, and Showtime OTT,” company officials said.

Rolling out All Access has been a chief concern on the part of Bob Bakish, CEO at ViacomCBS, since Viacom and CBS merged in December 2019. The company faces stiff competition from other streaming services, including Netflix and Disney, since it has less money to spend on content.

However, Bakish plans to make the company’s service stand out by creating “a linked ecosystem of differentiated offerings across free and pay streaming.” Paramount Plus will also be beefed up with advertising that will be made available through CBS live streams and CBS News as well as CBS sports and entertainment-related channels branded with “Entertainment Tonight.”
