Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win Super Bowl

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win Super Bowl

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by a strong defense, won the Super Bowl on their home turf defeating the Kansas City Chiefs, who won last year, according to ESPN. The final score was 31-9.

This year’s win marked the Buccaneers first win in 18 years, according to KTLA. The game was played before an actual crowd of 7,500 vaccinated health care workers who received free tickets. About 25,000 fans in total were also at the socially-distanced game surrounded by around 30,000 cardboard cutouts.

The Weeknd had the crowd dancing with his career-spanning halftime show that began with him stepping out of a luxury sports car in front of what appeared to be the Tampa Bay skyline, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He sang a medley of his hits, including “Starboy,” “I Can’t Feel My Face,” “Blinding Lights,” and “Save Your Tears.”

However, The Weeknd had no surprise celebrity artists and was accompanied by a choir and dozens of masked dancers to back him up. The choir kicked off with a huge figure that floated down to the stage, with red glowing eyes wearing a white robe and a mask. Members of the choir were dressed similarly.

“It’s a very cohesive story I’m telling throughout this year, so the story will continue, but we definitely will keep it PG-[rated] for the families,” The Weeknd said before the show. “I’ll do my best.”

Country singer Eric Church and R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan performed the National Anthem while H.E.R. rocked “America the Beautiful.”
