Bidding War Begins Over Oprah’s Harry and Meghan Interview

Bidding War Begins Over Oprah’s Harry and Meghan Interview

A sit-down interview Oprah Winfrey recently did with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has led to a bidding war in Great Britain between Comcast’s Sky and free to air broadcaster ITV, according to Variety. Neither the BBC nor Netflix are in the running.

The CBS primetime special with Oprah marks the first for the couple since stepping down as official members of the royal family.

The 90-minute special was taped last week. However, it may still be edited amid concerns Harry and Meghan have about the royal family’s reception and the fact Prince Philip is in the hospital.

“We can all live a life of service,” the couple recently said in a statement regarding being removed from their patronages. “Service is universal.”

It was recently announced that Prince Harry and Meghan would not be returning to England and resume their positions as working members of the royal family, according to The Guardian.

During their interview with Oprah, the couple reportedly said no topic would be off limits. There are reports Meghan may also discuss her father and sister-in-law, who made headlines during Harry and Meghan’s engagement.

ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group will be selling the sit-down interview in foreign countries. Having the interview shown on a free-to-air broadcaster would guarantee wider viewership in Great Britain.

Harry and Meghan’s interview is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. EST/PST on March 7, on CBS, according to Yahoo News. Queen Elizabeth’s Commonwealth broadcast is scheduled to be shown just hours before.
