Beyoncé, Taylor Swift Make History at 2021 Grammys

It was a big night for women at last night’s Grammy Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Taylor Swift became the first woman to win the album of the year trophy three times, this year for the critically acclaimed album folklore. Beyoncé also made broke records, winning her 28th Grammy and becoming the most awarded woman in Grammy history.

“As an artist I believe it’s my job, and all of our jobs, to reflect time and it’s been such a difficult time,” Beyoncé said as she accepted her award for “Black Parade,” the Best R&B performance winner that was released on Juneteenth last year.

Beyoncé was nominated for nine Grammys, the most of the night, which already had made history as the most nominated female artist of all time with a total of 79.

Additionally, her daughter, Blue Ivy, was announced as a winner during the Grammy pre-show, when she, along with Beyoncé, received the award for best music video for the song, “Brown Skin Girl.”

It was also a great night for Billie Eilish who won record of the year for “Everything I Wanted.” H.E.R. won the Grammy for song of the year for “I Can’t Breathe” a track written in honor of George Floyd.

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion won Grammys for best rap song and best rap performance for “Savage,” which she shared with Beyoncé. Megan Thee Stallion also won for best new artist, making her the first female rapper to win since Lauryn Hill nabbed the award in 1999.
