NFL Signs New Broadcasting Deals with Major Networks

NFL Signs New Broadcasting Deals with Major Networks

The National Football League has signed off on media deals for their games with CBS, FOX, Amazon.com, ABC, NBC, and the NFL Network, according to ESPN. The deals will last through the 2033 season.

“We’re proud to grow our partnerships with the most innovative media companies in the market,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “Along with our recently completed labor agreement with the NFLPA, these distribution agreements bring an unprecedented era of stability to the League and will permit us to continue to grow and improve our game.”

As part of the deals, the NFL will now play 17 games instead of 16 now played in the regular season, according to Reuters.

Sports events are still, generally, performing well, despite the fact that the number of regular season games viewers was down around 7 percent last year to 15.4 million.

Under the new agreements, ABC will broadcast two Super Bowls starting in 2026 and the other networks will pick up three each. Regular Sunday afternoon football games will remain on FOX and CBS. Sunday night games will be shown on NBC and ESPN will broadcast Monday night games.

ESPN will also continue broadcasting the popular NFL Draft as well as the Pro Bowl. The network will be able to stream football games on ESPN Plus as well.
