Chipotle to Give Out Burritos and Bitcoin Tomorrow for National Burrito Day

Chipotle to Give Out Burritos and Bitcoin Tomorrow for National Burrito Day

In honor of National Burrito Day on April 1, Chipotle Mexican Grill is giving out free burritos, according to NBC’s “Today” Show. However, customers will have to play an online game to either win the free burrito or up to $25,000 in Bitcoin.

“National Burrito Day is a huge moment for Chipotle as our fans traditionally flock to our restaurants and digital platforms to order their favorites,” Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer at Chipotle, said in a statement. “We’re always looking for unique ways to enhance the celebration, and this year, we’re giving fans the opportunity to acquire two highly valuable assets: Burritos or Bitcoin.”

Customers will have to go to burritosorbitcoin.com to play the game. Store officials say 10,000 customers will be able to win a free burrito.

Customers will have the opportunity to try to guess a six-digit code on the site and they will have 10 attempts to do so during the promotion, which kicks off tomorrow at noon EST and lasts until 9:00 p.m., according to The Mercury News.

Fifty customers who play will be able to score $500 in Bitcoin and three people will win $25,000 each in Bitcoin. Chipotle is also partnering with Stefan Thomas, a San Francisco man who lost $220 million worth of bitcoin after failing to recall his password.

Chipotle executives say it will mark the first time any restaurant nationwide has actually given out Bitcoin prizes. Even though the promotion is taking place on April 1, Chipotle executives say it is not an April Fool’s joke, in case there was any confusion.
