Nike Settles Lawsuit Over Lil Nas X ‘Satan Shoes’

Nike’s lawsuit after the release of rapper Lil Nas X’s “Satan Shoes” has been settled, according to Yahoo News. The trademark infringement lawsuit was settled with MSCHF Product Studio over the 666 pairs of custom black and red Air Max 97s after the release of the song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” according to The Guardian.

Nike officials insisted the shoes were created without their approval. The company then filed a trademark lawsuit and requested a temporary restraining order, which would have prevented any shoes from being sold to fans for a whopping $1,018 for them. The midsoles of the shoes reportedly had one drop of human blood in them.

The sneakers also have a Bible verse that references Satan’s fall from heaven. Lil Nas X is angry at Nike over the recall of his shoes.

“I feel like it’s f–ed up they have so much power they can get shoes canceled,” Lil Nas X tweeted. “Freedom of expression gone out the window.”

The shoes have been controversial since they first came out last month. They were released as a tie-in with Lil Nas X’s newest song and accompanying video, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” that sparked outrage from conservatives online.

A judge blocked any shipments of the shoes to customers. MSCHF has also agreed to buy back all “Satan Shoes” as well as “Jesus Shoes.” The latter were introduced two years ago and were also designed to look like the Nike Air Max 97.
