Billie Eilish, Post Malone to Headline Governors Ball’s Return

Billie Eilish, Post Malone to Headline Governors Ball’s Return

The Governors Ball is back after last year’s cancellation, according to Gothamist. Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, and Post Malone are slated to headline the event.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is celebrating the news. He said it is time to welcome back the arts which have suffered due to the pandemic.

“Building a recovery for all of us means reconnecting with the iconic events that make New York City the greatest travel destination in the world,” de Blasio said. As more New Yorkers become vaccinated by the day, we’re proud to support arts and culture and welcome back Governors Ball and their fantastic lineup, including New York City’s own Princess Nokia, A$AP Rocky, and King Princess, among others.”

Megan Thee Stallion is also scheduled to perform along with J Balvin, DaBaby, Carly Rae Jepsen, Young Thug, and more than 60 acts. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event.

Unlike previous years in which the Governor’s Ball was held at the Randall’s Island location, the show has been relocated this year to the Citi Field complex in Queens, New York, according to Billboard. The event’s organizers say the new location provides concert goers with a larger number of ways to travel there. It also has a 360-degree layout which mimics the one at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival.

The venue will be covered with high-grade astroturf. People will also have easy ways to get in and out of the venue if there is inclement weather. The festival will take place September 24 through 26.
