Among those already grappling with day-to-day consequences of the climate crisis are the fishermen of New England, who in recent years have witnessed the region’s rising temperatures drive vast numbers of native fish to migrate in search of cooler water. Over the last decade, cod and flounder populations have decreased by 80 and 50 percent, respectively – and the livelihood of local fishermen has shrunk along with them.
