Apple Unveils New iPads, Watches, and Subscription Bundle

Apple Unveils New iPads, Watches, and Subscription Bundle

Apple held its yearly September event yesterday, and while they did not announce the iPhone 12 just yet, they announced the release of the Apple Watch series 6, new iPad Airs, and a brand new subscription bundle for their services.

The series 6 Apple Watch comes with a wide variety of new features for coronavirus times, including a hand washing tracker and a blood oxygen monitor. Apple is also releasing an Apple Watch SE, which is a slightly cheaper version.

Apple also announced some watches will now include a feature called Family Setup. With it, those who don’t own iPhones can make calls, text, and share GPS locations, according to CNBC. The Family Setup feature is also a cheaper way to introduce users to an Apple device for those who do not yet have one.

“Apple Watch Series 6 completely redefines what a watch can do,” Apple COO Jeff Williams said in a press release. “With powerful new features, including a Blood Oxygen sensor and app, Apple Watch becomes even more indispensable by providing further insight into overall well-being.”

Apple Watch first went on sale five years ago, but older versions of the watch will only work when an iPhone is connected to a Bluetooth.

The new iPad Air will include a larger 10.9-inch screen, a smaller Touch ID sensor for fingerprint unlock, and a new A14 silicon chip which Apple says is its most advanced, according to CNN. It comes in five colors, including blue, green, and rose gold. It will be available beginning next month with a price starting at $599. In addition, the iPad Air will now support USB-C adapter instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector.

Apple also introduced a new three-tiered subscription service called Apple One, designed to save customers money on the services they already know and love, including Music, TV+, and iCloud. The company will also be launching a fitness subscription service called Fitness+, which will be included in the Apple One bundle.

The new iOS 14 update will be released today and the Apple Watches and iPad Airs are available for pre-order now.
