Airbnb is expanding beyond vacation rentals. The company just launched a major app overhaul<\/a> that lets users book services like massages, personal training sessions, hair styling, private chefs, and even spa treatments\u2014no overnight stays required.<\/p>\n

According to The Verge<\/span><\/a>, the redesigned app now features 10 new service categories. Think of it as your go-to concierge, minus the hotel. You can scroll, select, and book lifestyle perks directly through Airbnb, whether you’re on a trip or chilling at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe now feel like we have such a strong foundation that we are capable of building and expanding,\u201d Airbnb\u2019s chief business officer Dave Stephenson said in an interview with CNBC<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Airbnb says these pros are thoroughly <\/i>vetted, which sets them apart from listings on other gig-service apps.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are vetted for quality through an evaluation of expertise and reputation,\u201d the company wrote in a statement. \u201cThey have an average of 10 years of experience, have completed Airbnb\u2019s identity verification process, and are required to submit relevant licenses and certifications.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Prices start under $50, according to Bloomberg<\/span><\/a>, making some of these luxuries a bit more accessible. And since you don\u2019t need to book a stay to access them, Airbnb is clearly aiming to reach users year-round\u2014not just during vacation season.<\/p>\n

The new services will roll out in 260 cities globally. That includes expanded \u201cExperiences,\u201d Airbnb\u2019s curated outings like a behind-the-scenes tour of Notre Dame in Paris led by a restoration architect. These exclusive activities are part of Airbnb Originals, designed in-house to compete with traditional tourism options.<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil now, our app has really done one thing, which is it lets you book a home,\u201d Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said on this month\u2019s earnings call. \u201cWe rebuilt the app from the ground up on a new technology stack. And now we can innovate faster and offer much more than homes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
