After being down two sets and facing three match points, the Spanish phenom staged a gutsy comeback to claim his second straight Roland Garros title.<\/p>\n

“I just believed all the time,\u201d Alcaraz told ESPN<\/span><\/a>. \u201cI never doubted myself, even in those match points down. I thought, just one point at a time. Just one point and then after one point, try to save that game and keep believing. That’s what I thought.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The victory also marks Alcaraz\u2019s ffifth Grand Slam title overall, further solidifying his reputation as the future of men\u2019s tennis\u2014and possibly its present.<\/p>\n

On the women\u2019s side, 21-year-old Coco Gauff dominated Aryna Sabalenka in a high-energy showdown. Gauff\u2019s win makes her the first American woman to take home the French Open title since Serena Williams did in 2015, per The Athletic<\/span><\/a>.
